The Cipher NOVA isn’t quite what I expected. The first time I picked up the NOVA was at the CHAMPS Trade Show and my first thought was that this device must be just another dry herb vaporizer.
The NOVA is not,” just another dry herb vaporizer”. Where most, if not all, dry herb vaporizers use a chamber that holds the dry herb, and the whole chamber is heated to achieve vaporization; the NOVA uses a unique heat source to heat the air drawn through the chamber.
The heat source is a plasma arc lighter that produces direct heat with no waiting for a heat up. Also, because there is no heat up time to heat the chamber, there is an almost instantaneous cooling of the chamber. The benefit of fast cooling is less wasted material in the chamber. Traditional dry herb vaporizers continue to keep the material exposed to heat as it cools.
Regarding the chamber that holds the herb for vaporizing, the NOVA has another unique approach. The NOVA uses a pod system. Instead of having the chamber fixed inside the device, the pod (removable chamber) can be easily removed and a new full pod can be popped in and ready to go in seconds. The pods are also super easy to clean, unlike some traditional dry herb fixed chambers, simply because they can be removed from the device and cleaned with a small brush, a cotton swab, and a little alcohol.
The NOVA hits significantly better than I expected. It is not like a hit from a dry herb vaporizer. With a traditional vaporizer, you really need to crank up the heat and suffer a lack of flavor to get anything close to vapor with a milky consistency. The NOVA, on the other hand, delivers a nice thick milky vapor consistently after a little practice with the device. I ran the NOVA through about three sessions before I figured out the right amount of draw to deliver what I wanted. Since then, I get that desired output, including the flavor I wanted, consistently.

NOVA Bubbler Attachment is nice add-on that delivers a smooth water-filtered hit. The bubbler is made of strong borosilicate glass. Simply remove the NOVA mouthpiece and the bubbler connects to the device magnetically.
